The greatest adventure of the rest of your life begins with giving your life to Jesus! And then you can live the rest of your life getting to know Him, and finding others who love Him and live for Him, to grow in community with the family of God with new friends from all over the world!
What does giving your "YES" to Jesus mean?
Giving your life to Jesus is not religious, it is the start of a spiritual journey of new life and growing in God. And when you take your last breath, you know your are marked for heaven and get to live forever with Jesus in heaven.
Before you give your life to Jesus, Until you have been saved by Jesus, it's like you are the walking dead, on auto-pilot, or robotic going through the motions of life feeling empty. This is because you are actually trapped in your sins, spiritually dead, an enemy of God, and separated from God.
Jesus came to earth as God, He lived a sinless and perfect life, died on a cross for all of the sins of humanity, and was raised to life on the third day to rescue you and me from sin, to make you fully alive, to designate you a friend of God, and and do for you what you couldn't do for yourself, by bringing you into relationship with God.
Life is short, but eternity is forever! Salvation is not only a ticket to heaven, but meant for you to live your best life here on this earth because of Jesus and the costly price He paid for you to have abundant life.
Jesus is salvation, and salvation is life (1 John 5:12). When you are saved, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you! You become a new creation in Christ. Only believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Salvation is for everyone. You do not have to be good enough to come to God. You cannot earn salvation because it is a free gift of God. It's all Him! He laid down His life so you can receive new life through Him.
God loved us so much that He sent His one and only son into the world so that when we believe, we are given eternal life. You don’t need to be able to remember the time or place of that decision to know you’re saved. You just know that the great exchange of what He did for you on the cross saved you and you are now His. The Bible says in this moment He has transferred you out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of His Beloved Son. You are His! You are a citizen of heaven.
1. I need a Savior
We all need salvation, which is only possible through faith in Jesus Christ.
2. Believe in Jesus
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. When you choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, it means you believe God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for your sins (sin being defined as every area where you missed the mark, made a mistake, chose your own way, sinned against yourself, God, and others, and chose less than God's best for you) who came to earth to save us from sin and make us right with God.
3. Confess your sins
Confess your sins. We have all missed the mark. Who knows it better than you. Ask for forgiveness. When you give your life to Jesus, you allow Jesus to clean you up, grow you up, and give you new desires for Him so you do not stay where you are in your sins.
4. Repent of your sins
Make choices to turn away from sin and turn your heart to God's best for your life! The old has been crucified with Christ, He already paid the price for you to be free, trust Him to give you new desires for His best for your life. Let Him love on you, and love yourself and those around you, by choosing to follow Him from your heart, not DUTY! Remember, everything He did for you was out of love. You can't deliver yourself. Only god can! He can do what you can't do for yourself. Your sin doesn't love you, and the reward for staying in sin has consequences in your life now and forever: your relationships, your finances, your family, and the payoff of momentary pleasures are fleeting.
5. I am YOURS Jesus
When you give your life to Jesus, it means you will follow Him anywhere. Letting Jesus lead you instead of you choosing your own path. When you surrender to Jesus, you begin to learn that the doors you could kick down on your own are not the best God has for you. After all, He knows you, created you, and has His best in mind for you, your family, and future, so letting Him lead you is learning to be dependent on Him, knowing He loves you and will not fail you. After all, He is not a man that He should lie. He is not like people. You can trust Him with your life.
Know this as you go forward!
· Find trustworthy people to encourage you along your new path and life in Christ.
Start by telling someone who can support your new faith that you became a Christian, a Christ follower, and follower of Jesus!
· There are many churches who teach the Word of God, the Bible, and believe in Holy Spirit. They can help you grow in community with believers in Jesus and meet new friends to support you on your journey. If you need help finding a church, reach out!
· Start reading the Bible and get to know God's love letter for your life!
You can download a great Bible app like YouVersion that teaches you in your own language. If you buy a Bible or need to pick a Bible version in the app, start with NIV or NKJV or something that relates to you.
Don't let reading the Bible overwhelm you like a To-do list!
This is a relationship, and relationships grow over time.
Start reading the book of John in the New Testament or ask Holy Spirit, who lives in you, to lead you.
Did you know you can put the Bible on audio and let it read out loud to you.
Read the Psalms and you can start in the New Testament like Matthew to listen to the entire New Testament while driving in your car, while working out, or walking along your way.
· Join a Bible study online or at a church. Did you know many churches offer open worship times to just go sit and enjoy times of worship and prayer.
· Did you know Jesus prayed to His father: God! So, we know He wants us to pray, to be conversational, and to get to know Him! And we know He hears us! So Pray.
Talking to God is not a religious act or done out of duty, and you don't have to pray the same thing 10,000 times like wishful thinking or to manifest something into life.
God is your life, and He wants to get to know you!
Ask Him questions.
Be willing to position your heart to listen, to wait, and to have patience to grow up in Christ Jesus.
· Jesus has sent Holy Spirit to be with you on this earth, so you are never alone! You are HIS. You are His treasure and you are cherished. It doesn't matter how you feel about yourself, or what others think of you, it only matters How God feels about you. You don't have to have it altogether to talk to God. You are His son or daughter, and He loves your voice. Live your life getting to know His! He speaks in many, many ways.
· Stay the course! This is a life-long journey! And Jesus is walking it with you!
